Do you know what it means?

..to miss New Orleans, and miss it with all your heart?

I love that old song, and now singing it will be ever so much more poignant. Are we numb from disasters? Why aren't the images and news updates from the south broadcast around the clock, like 9/11 and even less powerful, earlier hurricanes? Is this a racist issue, as many have said, or is it due to anti-south sentiment? Or is it just that we can't take it anymore?

Again I go to the internet for the first-hand accounts and for the uplifting messages of the kind-hearted, who are putting together housing drives (www.hurricanehousing.org) and so forth.

I am holding a plane ticket to New Orleans for Oct 6th, but the city will not be available to welcome me. The convention organizers are scrambling to find another venue.
