Miscellaneous Fall
It's been a long, glorious fall this year, as if to repay us for suffering through the cold wet spring that encroached on our summer. We've enjoyed day after day of clear blue skies and warm temperatures, and now the nights seemed forced only by the turn of the calendar to get cold. We have seen frost on the park grass two or three mornings in a row this week. Slipper socks are worn in bed. Lola, being a northern breed, seems to come alive in the park when it's frosty, leaping into the white-tipped grass and romping after the ball.
They say that Thanksgiving will bring us a small rainstorm with lower temperatures. That's fine.. a good excuse to be inside, enjoying food and company.
We plan on seeing a bunch of movies and eating a variety of pies. I heard yesterday about a book called Humble Pie, in which the author muses about the power and influence of pie and piemakers in our culture. I think I'll have to pick up a copy!
