Massive

The Friday photo theme is "massive". I can't think of anything larger than the Jolly Green Giant. This public art piece was displayed in a tiny little park in Queens, NY in July of 2004, when we were last there. There was a view of Governors Island from this riverside green space. Governors is a National Monument which was at that time not yet open to the public. It was used in the late 1700's as an exclusive "palace" for New York’s royal governors. Prisoners of war were locked up there during the Civil War, and later it became a Coast Guard station.
